Scotland creative nation
A promo video that is a visually arresting, innovative illustration of the breadth and depth of the contemporary arts, artists and audiences in Scotland (as supported by the funding parties). It is also a reminder of the extent and diversity of the organisations' interests and influence. The film consists of bespoke and archive footage, with six bespoke-filmed ‘acts of creation’ inter-cut to form Chapter-Points, in which six artists are shown ‘doing their thing’, making and/or performing a creative endeavour or artwork. These Chapter-Points encompass a broad range of disciplines, practitioners and locations, and are followed from the start of their performance or act, to completion and/or display.
The second structural component of the film consists of shorter ‘snapshots’ of different areas of the arts, all cut together and roughly categorised into six areas - Music, Dance, Drama, Literature, Visual Arts, Crafts and Traditional Arts and Creative Industries). These categorisations are, to some extent, fluid.
