Scottish Arts Council director has left

23/11/2001

It is announced today that Ms Tessa Jackson has left her position as Director of the Scottish Arts Council. Her intention is to continue to contribute towards the development of the arts from her base in Scotland.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my period as Director of the Scottish Arts Council and would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to my many hardworking colleagues across the country and at the Scottish Arts Council for their support over the last two years," she said. "This is an exciting time for the arts in Scotland and I very much look forward to continuing my participation in the future development of Scottish arts and culture."

The Chairman and Council expressed their appreciation Ms Jackson’s valuable work since her appointment as Director in 1999. Her decision to leave has been accepted by Scottish Arts Council Chairman James Boyle.

A new Director for the Scottish Arts Council will be sought immediately, but meanwhile Graham Berry will become Acting Director.

Notes to editors

  1. Ms Jackson’s last day at work was Thursday 22 November.
  2. No interviews on this subject will be granted.
