Scots invasion Dublin up
Hard Working Class Heroes Dance Exchange Ireland - Scotland
A very strong Scottish presence will be felt in Dublin this September. With Scottish Arts Council support, both the artforms of dance and music will be showcasing work at The Dublin Fringe Festival 2008 and at the Hard Working Class Heroes music festival respectively.
Hard Working Class Heroes returns to the streets of Dublin’s Temple Bar Area over the weekend of Friday 12th - Sunday 14th September for its 6th consecutive year.
The Hard Working Class Heroes festival has become the best barometer of Irish independent music. It is a perfect opportunity to spot emerging acts as well as a chance to see more established artists perform in full festival spirit without having to test your wellies.
Thanks to the curatorship of Sons & Daughters and the generous support of the Scottish Arts Council the Hard Working Class Heroes live international quotient will be filled this year by a Scottish Invasion.

Also in Dublin, Dance Base and Catalyst are presenting a Scottish/Irish Dance Exchange at the Dublin Fringe Festival 2008 from September 8 – 13.
 |
 |
The exchange aims to strengthen dance sector links between the two countries and to promote their work to a wider international audience at high profile festivals.
A collaboration of Dancebase, Dance Ireland, the Dublin Fringe Festival and Richard Wakely have overseen the exchange, including the selection of an eclectic range of participants. |
The programme features award winning Scottish choreographer Colette Sadler's 'The Making of Doubt' with an international cast of dancers and an edgy sound score composed by Zoviet France. ‘Without a Hitch’ by Random Aspekts incorporates break dancing with a hint of film noir while ‘Mobile’ - a solo dance and aerial piece by 2007 Fringe Award nominee Claire Cunningham uses crutches entwined with rope to form a human mobile. Traversing the globe for it’s influences, Ananda is a fusion of Indian, Russian and Celtic music and dance by Dance Ihayami.
The exchange intends to strengthen links between the two communities leading to more projects, tours and collaborations in future. |
