Writers' Bursaries
|
Support is available to assist published writers of literary work and playwrights, based in Scotland, who need finance for a period of concentrated work on their next book or play. The bursary may be used for a quiet period of writing at home or elsewhere, or it may be used for the necessary travel and research.
Level of Grants: £3,000 - £15,000

New Writers' Bursaries |
In 2008, responsibility for the Scottish Arts Council's New Writers' Bursaries fund passed from the Literature Department to Scottish Book Trust, as part of its programmes of training and mentoring for writers, the fund has been re-named 'New Writers' Awards'. The Literature Department will continue to be represented in the assessment and decision-making on applications, but all aspects of the administration and application procedures, including dealing with enquires from potential applicants, will be the responsibility of Scottish Book Trust. Storytellers' Bursaries
|
Storytellers are offered the opportunity for funding to enable them to research and work creatively on a particular project in relation to their craft. Storytellers should be registered with the Scottish Storytelling Centre or have a similar indication of professional status if their career has not been primarily in Scotland.
Level of Grants: £1,500 - £5,000

Professional Development
|
We support individual artists in most artforms to undertake professional development activities relevant to their artistic practice. We also support arts practitioners working at a professional level within the arts in Scotland, and their role in the development of the sector.
