Scotland and Venice Publication

The Scottish Arts Council, in conjunction with British Council Scotland and National Galleries of Scotland, has published a book celebrating Scotland’s contribution to the last three Venice Biennales; 2003, 2005 and 2007.

The Venice Biennale is held every two years and is the world’s largest and most prestigious international showcase for contemporary visual arts. More than 65 countries participate in the five-month event, with each country hosting an exhibition or pavilion dedicated solely to the work of its best artists.

This publication celebrates recent exhibitions of work by Scottish artists at the Venice Biennale, commissioned by The Scottish Arts Council and its partners.

Selected by different curators and held in different locations each time, the exhibitions took different approaches in their assessment and presentation of current art practice in Scotland.

This publication brings the three exhibitions together, with essays by each of the three curators or curatorial teams, illustrations and installation photographs of the work displayed and a visual archive of some of the material produced. It offers the opportunity to assess Scotland’s contribution to the last three Venice Biennales, and provides a snapshot of art in Scotland over the last 5 years.

The Scotland and Venice publication is on sale for £14.99

For advice on ordering, please email Lottie Gerrard, Visual Arts Administrator.
