ShowCASe: Contemporary Art for the UK
22 January - 12 March 2005
|
ShowCASe, jointly hosted by City Art Centre and Talbot Rice Gallery, features over 150 contemporary fine art and craft works acquired by the Contemporary Art Society (CAS) over the past four years.
CAS invites critics, curators and collectors to purchase works on it's behalf, asking them to select work they believe will make a significant contribution to museum collections in the UK. |

The exhibition brings together the work of contemporary artists and craft makers, placing young artists at a formative stage in their career alongside those with an established international reputation. The exhibition illuminates the breadth of current practice and the diversity of contemporary media. Courtesy The Modern Institute |

From large-scale installation work examining the borders between sculpture and architecture, to sustained explorations of the qualities of paint or line; from hand crafted objects formed through their materiality, to computer-generated still and moving imagery; ShowCASe offers a rare overview of the quality and diversity of artists’ practice today. |
|
The Talbot Rice Gallery will show installation, three-dimensional work, drawings and photographs. The City Art Centre exhibition will span over three floors with one floor dedicated to craft.
A programme of events will accompany ShowCASe. |
