Crawford Arts Centre - Pressing Forward exhibition

6 March – 25 April 2004

Each year the Crawford Arts Centre works with a group of students to curate an exhibition. This year the exhibition ‘Pressing Forward’ was based on contemporary Scottish printmaking. Students were given the chance to work on a major marketing project and to organise publicity and private viewings.

With the support and guidance of Jane Hogg of RGA, they organised a special student exhibition night to develop the Centre's student audience. They had to devise ways of advertising the event which would particularly appeal to students, and included lollypops, t-shirts, and emails.

On the night DJ Fat Mess provided ambient music, and through sponsorship, Becks provided beer, and Orange provided two 'state of the art' mobile phones as an incentive to complete a visitor questionnaire.

The exterior of the Centre was bathed in pink light and bedecked with balloons. Over 200 people came to see the exhibition with over half of them filling in questionnaires – a great success by all accounts!

Following the success of this event, it is hoped that more special evenings will be arranged for students and older visitors.
