Jobs and Opportunities

The Travelling Gallery Volunteer Programme

The Travelling Gallery are currently looking for Volunteers to talk about the exhibitions in the Travelling Gallery, often to groups of school children of all ages but also to members of the public.

  • This may involve a lot of driving – getting from Edinburgh to wherever the Travelling Gallery happens to be – so you must be a safe and confident driver.
  • You don’t need to drive the Travelling Gallery – but if you have an HGV – all the better.
  • It may also mean long days with occasional overnight stays – so you must be flexible.
  • We’re flexible too so if you can only do certain days or maybe just a block of a couple of weeks – that’s fine.
  • You will need to have a Disclosure Scotland check done – we will arrange that.

The Travelling Gallery Volunteer programme is a great opportunity to learn about gallery organisation, teamwork, contemporary art, art education and to travel and see Scotland. It is ideal for someone interested in a career in the visual arts and/or gallery education. It’s also good experience in teaching or community work.

For an informal chat about the volunteer programme please contact:
Alison Chisholm, Travelling Gallery Curator, on 0131 529 3682 or email: alison.chisholm@edinburgh.gov.uk attaching your cv and a written statement saying why you want to work with us.

Deadline for applications is 8th February 2010.

For further information on the Travelling Gallery Volunteer Programme and their next exhibition and tour please visit The Travelling Gallery website
