Win an original print and enjoy a summer of Own Art

Scotland’s Own Art galleries are celebrating the country’s long and distinguished printmaking history with a season of shows featuring original work by Scottish artists.

Four of Scotland’s leading contemporary galleries are participating in the Summer of Print promotion with Own Art.  Prints are original, usually limited edition, works that include etchings, engravings, screenprints or lithographs. They offer an affordable way to start your own contemporary art collection.

Each gallery has experienced and knowledgeable staff who can talk you through buying your own piece of collectible contemporary art, and many of the works available are by artists living and working in Scotland.

Also, by visiting any Own Art gallery from 1 August – 30 September 2009, you are eligible to win £500 towards an original print from one of the studios listed below!  All you need to do is visit any Own Art gallery in Scotland and fill in an entry form, no purchase required.*

The Scottish Arts Council has invited each of the participating studios to create a spotlight exhibition so that  visitors to our reception will be able to find out more about the artists whose work is being shown, the prints available and how to take home your own print using the Own Art scheme.

Amanda Catto, Head of visual arts, Scottish Arts Council, welcomed the Summer of Print and added:
‘Original prints by artists are beautiful, affordable and engaging. Any home or office can be transformed by a carefully selected print and prints make thoughtful and long-lasting presents for friends and family.  Buying prints is also an ideal way to give collecting contemporary art a try.’

The Own Art collecting initiative offers an 0% interest (typical APR) loan scheme which is operated by the Scottish Arts Council.  Own Art is designed to make it easier for you to own contemporary art and craft by taking out an interest-free loan.

The Summer of Print aims to highlight the quality and range of prints available across Scotland. So enjoy some summer shopping and drop by one of our Own Art print studios:
