Demo Fund In 2008 the Scottish Arts Council Youth Music Initiative launched a pilot scheme, called Demo Fund as part of the Independent Music Making Initiative, to support young people who are making music independently. |

Scottish Borders Council The Play On Together project, a series of whole-day workshops for aiming to improve skills in a particular instrument, genre or style of music. |

Sistema Scotland The Big Noise Orchestra, a project in Stirling based on the world-renowed El Sistema programme of Venezuela. |
Projects funded by the Youth Music Initiative (YMI) can be broadly divided into formal and informal sector activities.
|
Formal sector Activities delivered by local authority staff and teachers mainly during school time.
Informal sector Activities delivered through the YMI scheme by independent and national music/arts organisations outside school time in learning environments that are not school-based such as youth clubs or arts centres. |
