Free Music Industry Workshops Launched for Unsigned Bands
Unsigned bands now have the chance to attend free music industry workshops with funding from the Youth Music Initiative.
Over the past two years, DF Concerts and Glasgow's King Tuts have been developing Your Sound, which aims to support unsigned bands and offer them a platform to network with the music industry and peers through monthly networking events within King Tuts.
The events involve many music industry figures and have given bands a higher profile through their Artist of the Month scheme, where extra exposure and promotion boosts their fan base and generates greater awareness and contacts within the music industry.
The seminars take place from 2pm – 4pm, just before the main Your Sound event, which continues in King Tuts from 4pm – 8pm. There are six sessions planned from October 2008 to May 2009 and these will take place in King Tuts on the first Sunday of each month.
In addition, the Artist of the Month will receive a service to the value of £500 with the choice of
- rehearsal time at Lofii Studios
- a PR campaign with Everymatic PR and Management
- legal advice with Murray Buchanan
- recording time with Terminal Music Studios
- equipment from Guitar Guitar.
Your Sound academies are intended to take artists to the next level, whilst allowing musicians to promote their relationships within the wider music industry.
December's Your Sound workshop is called 'Live Promotion', and is from 2pm - 4pm at King Tut’s on Sunday December 7th, to register your interest in attending the Your Sound Academy email Your Sound.
