Black Bottle Islay Jazz Festival 2006

15-17 September 2006

Setting the scene
The programme

The annual Black Bottle Islay Jazz Festival takes place in the second weekend of September.

Setting the scene

The beautiful Hebridean island of Islay plays host to the exciting Black Bottle Islay Jazz Festival, now in its ninth year.  The festival is an attraction for tourists and islanders alike, and this year's programme is jam-packed full of excellent music.

Islay's village halls, distilleries, bird centres, manor houses, Gaelic college, bars and hotels provide the venues for the concerts.  Apart from the music, visitors to the island will not be disappointed with the bird and wildlife, beaches, whisky, championship golf course, seafood and the warm hospitality of the islanders, against the backdrop of the rugged beauty of Islay's landscape.

The programme

Some of the top names in Scottish and international jazz will perform at this year's Islay Jazz Festival.  The exciting programme kicks off at 6.00 pm on Friday 15 September with New York pianist David Berkman's trio, and concludes with American saxophinist Scott Hamilton's quartet at 8.30 pm on Sunday 17 September.
