|
Edinburgh's many traditional arts organisations have come together to celebrate the city's colourful and dynamic traditional arts scene, producing a high-quality programme which includes 120 individual performances, concerts, workshops and classes in traditional song, music, dance and storytelling in 24 venues across the city.
Ceilidh Culture 2005 will run from 19 March until 17 April and as part of Edinburgh's celebration of 100 Years of Norway's Independence, co-ordinated by Edinburgh City Council and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General, it will feature some special Norwegian events.
One of the main aims of Ceilidh Culture is to increase access to the traditional arts for all sectors of the community, both from Edinburgh and beyond. Smaller organisations are also given access to a high quality publicity campaign that they could not normally afford.
| Events will take place in various types of venue across the city, from pubs to large concert venues such as the Queen's Hall and the Usher Hall. |
