Aye Write! is Glasgow's first ever major book festival, and is a celebration of the rich variety of Glasgwegian writing. It also brings together the best of Scottish and international writing, with over 150 events taking place and around 170 authors coming to the city.

The festival runs from Saturday 19 February until Sunday 27 February. The programme will include a mixture of serious seminars and big names along with fun events aimed at people of all ages. Other events on the go include major author events, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, song-writing, illustration, children's events and workshops.
Well-known authors such as Iain Banks, Roy Hattersley and Terry Jones are on the programme, as well as Glasgow's best writers, including Louise Welsh, Zoe Strachan, William McIlvanney, Liz Lochhead and Alasdair Gray.
Festival-goers can soak up the atmosphere in the Mitchell Library at the Aye Write! cafe, or browse in the bookshop provided by Ottakar's. The festival is open to everyone - so if you are interested in books, reading or writing, come along!
The main venue for the festival will be the Mitchell Library, with some events hosted by the Glasgow Film Theatre.

In addition to the main programme, there will be an exciting children's festival with over 80 events for Glasgow schools.
As well as the weekday events, there will be weekend sessions for children with guests including Philip Ardagh, Julia Donaldson and GP Taylor. |

The results of the recent Urban Fairy Tale competition will also be announced during the festival. The competition has been run to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hans Christian Andersen.
Sessions will be held during the festival which will explore the timeless magic of fairy tales, fantasy and magic.
