Creative Programmer appointed to ensure Olympic legacy for Scotland
The Scottish Arts Council has announced the appointment of Leonie Bell as Creative Programmer for Scotland for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Leonie will curate a programme of high quality, accessible and innovative activity as part of Scotland’s contribution to the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme.

Expo funding for ‘Made in Scotland’ Fringe Showcase
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is to receive an initial £200,000 from the Scottish Government’s Expo Fund for a new initiative showcasing Scottish-based performing arts talent. 20% of the Expo Fund continues to be ring fenced for this initiative in future years.

Scottish Arts Council announces shortlist of Scotland’s inspiring ideas
A site specific event combining the arts and extreme sports in Aberdeen, a 25ft high ‘Big Man’ walking through Scotland inspiring creativity among communities, and a performance by young Asian groups in Glasgow inspired by graphic novels and video games. These are just some of the exciting, innovative projects that have been shortlisted for funding from the Scottish Arts Council’s Inspire Fund.

Glasgow’s Indepen-dance in the running to win a National Lottery Award
Glasgow charity, Indepen-dance, has reached the semi-finals of The National Lottery Awards 2008 and will now battle it out against other Lottery-funded projects from across the UK for the chance to win £2,000 to spend on their project and the opportunity to star in a special prime-time BBC1 TV show.

Your Sound amplifed with boost from Scottish Arts Council
