Starbucks Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival 2006

28 July – 6 August 2006

Colin Steele; Photo: Andy Shaw; Courtesy: Assembly Direct This year’s festival spans the range of jazz genres, from cutting edge contemporary all the way back to the form’s roots in New Orleans.  This year’s New Orleans theme is particularly poignant following Hurricane Katrina and, through collections, the Starbucks Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival is supporting the city’s musicians whose lives have been affected by the disaster.

Highlights of performances across the13 venues include:

Jam sessions feature as part of the Festival, in the Spiegeltent on 28, 29, 30 July and 4, 5 and 6 August.

Education events to look out for: Fionna Duncan vocal jazz workshops and Napier University Jazz summer school; 31 July – 4 August.

For more information about ticket prices and the festival programme, go to the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues festival website.
