Lung Ha's Theatre Company exists to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to become actively involved in the performing arts by:

  • Presenting performing arts events of a high professional standard to the general public.
  • Challenging stereotypical perspectives - particularly those regarding learning disabilities.
  • Behaving in a way that widens understanding of people's potential and abilities.
  • Encouraging a greater provision of arts opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
  • A culture that is respectful, supportive and challenging.

New website

Lung Ha's Theatre Company recently launched their new website.  This site was developed with two key objectives, to be both easily accessible and easily navigable.  It provides an insight into the Company's rich artistic history and conveys a sense of the energy, enthusiasm and enjoyment that is at the core of the Company's activity.

An important feature of the site is the inclusion and participation of Company members.  Images of the members and a video of previous productions enliven the site and engage the online audience.

Company members will soon begin to write a weekly rehearsal blog featuring current audio and visual clips - so keep an eye on the site!

Profile

Lung Ha's Theatre Company staged its first production in 1985 and runs an extensive workshop and outreach programme.  It aims to reach as many people as possible and to provide them with an opportunity to get involved in performance.

Since its launch Lung Ha's has produced more than thirty new works for the stage.  These performances have featured hundreds of performers and the involvement of Scotland's leading writers, directors and production teams.

Each year the entire performing company participates in a full company production.  This production usually takes place in the spring in Edinburgh and Glasgow.  The Company also runs an annual small scale touring work, travelling throughout Scotland each summer.
