The Snow Queen is the story of Gerda who must rescue her best friend Kay after he is turned into a cold and spiteful little boy after falling victim to the splinters of the evil troll mirror. When he is whisked away to the merciless Snow Queen’s ice palace on a glittering sleigh pulled by giant swans, Gerda is determined to rescue her dear friend. |

Her adventurous mission takes her to magical lands and leads to encounters with many famous characters from other fairy tales. Time is short, however, as up in the mountain Kay’s heart is turning into a cold lump of ice and winter is settling in his bones. Gerda must find him and melt his wintery heart to bring spring and sunshine back to their lives.
Held in a small, intimate space, the performance is extra special for younger children as it allows them the opportunity to interact with the show and see the costumes and drama up close.
For this special Arches adaptation of The Snow Queen, actress Morag Stark will play The Snow Queen, Charlene Boyd stars as Gerda, Joe Arkley plays Kay and Brian Conaghan will perform the troll and cameo parts.
