Eleven New Theatre Productions for 2010-2011

Rapture Theatre and Greenwich Theatre's Hamlet

Eleven projects have received support from the Scottish Arts Council’s Touring & Production Theatre Fund, reflecting the diverse range of work for audiences young and old throughout all of Scotland.

The projects supported cross a wide range of art forms and include site specific work, contemporary classics, physical theatre and puppet based opera.

New works will be created exploring themes such as identity, destiny, relationships and morality. The work will tour throughout Scotland and will appeal to new audiences and frequent theatre-goers, with a selection of work designed to engage babies and youth audiences as well and families and older audiences.

Angela Hogg, Senior Drama Officer, Scottish Arts Council said:
“The decisions reflect a strong commitment to artistic quality and public engagement. It is important that new theatre projects cover a broad range of styles and include the development of positive, artistic and promoter based collaborations, which will ensure that audiences across all ages and locations in Scotland will benefit from new and exciting work”

The decisions were made by the Co Director of Arts/Head of Drama and Senior Drama Officer with the advice of Scottish Arts Council Specialist Advisors and Drama Officers. Advisory panel participants were Stewart Ennis, Sandy Maxwell, Sally Hobson and Nick Fearne.
