Scottish theatre at home and abroad

Three of Scotland’s leading theatre companies performed in New York in May as part of Brits off Broadway, the annual festival of new, innovative British theatre.

The Scottish Arts Council has provided support for TAG/Citizens Theatre, Stellar Quines and The Traverse to showcase productions to an international audience and help raise the profile of Scottish theatre abroad.

TAG/Citizen Theatre are performing their award winning production Yellow Moon (TMA Best Show for Children and Young People 2007) written by leading Scottish playwright David Greig, Stellar Quines present the darkly humorous The Unconquered and the Traverse is performing Damascus, also by David Greig.

Yellow Moon and The Unconquered run until 18 May and Damascus until 1 June at 59E59 Theatres in Manhattan.

Mischief La Bas will present Peeping at Bosch at Tramway this summer. The performance has been developed as the first part of a modular project leading to a new large scale outdoor performance project Bisch, Basch, Bosch - intended for presentation in 2010.

The performance which is supported by the Scottish Arts Council and is a partnership between Tramway and the National Theatre of Scotland, is an interactive realisation of Hieronymus Bosch’s famous triptych featuring depictions of Eden, The Garden of Earthly Delights and Hell.

The production features contributions from the cream of Scotland's artistic experimenters and includes music, performance, live art, animation, painting and sculpture.

Audiences will have communal and solitary experiences and will be free to wander some areas but constricted in others, ensuring a unique experience for each audience member.

Mischief La Bas present Peeping at Bosch from Thursday 10 July – Sunday 13 July.  Director of Mischief La Bas, Ian Smith will also host a talk on Saturday 12 July.  To book tickets visit: Tramway
