Gilmore Productions - The Blank Album Tour

Gilmore Productions, the Glasgow based dance company led by Artistic Director Natasha Gilmore, will tour The Blank Album during Spring 2009.

Gilmore Productions receives Project Funding from the Scottish Arts Council dance department

Touring all the way from Shetland down to the depths of Cornwall, The Blank Album is a high energy piece which combines rock music, pop imagery and complex choreography.

The production is directed by Natasha Gilmore and features music composed by Quee McArthur of Shooglenifty, the maverick Scottish band whose unique blend of dance vibes and roots music has built up a huge following.

With a cast of multi-talented dance artists/musicians, Natasha has created a string of blistering dance 'singles' that look at the dynamics of a band on tour - the on/off stage relationships and the idiosyncratic sense of humour of the artist protagonists.

Performed live on stage with guitars, fiddle, cello, percussion adn voice, the music and movement are completely intertwined. With references to popular culture, The Blank Album is fast paced, unpretentious and self-assured.

About the Company

Based in Glasgow since 2006, Gilmore Productions is the company built around the artistic work of choreographer Natasha Gilmore. The flavour of the work is British; it addresses contemporary social issues, reflecting our contemporary cultural identity and most importantly, the British sense of humour. The choreographic style draws on the surreal and fast pace of popular culture but also juxtaposes intimacy and fully engages its audience with the strong use of characters.

Critical Acclaim for The Blank Album

"Live Music, comedy and dance that literally rocks - The Blank Album. Dancers who sing standing on their heads, cellos that dance, and sketch-show guitars, hysterical yet strikingly poetic. Packed with catchy tunes and quirky choreography." The Scotsman

"Gilmore's skilful cast is both sending up and celebrating stadium concert behaviour. Brilliant" The Times

"All-singing, all dancing - and flamboyantly rock'n'roll with it - The Blank Album is like a mini-music-fest without the mud...but with the kind of swaggering hi-octane choreography that Jagger in his heyday would have leapt at." The Herald
