X Factor Dance Company was formed in 1990 by Artistic Director Alan Greig. It made an immediate impact on the Scottish dance scene with critics enthusing that the debut show was 'wonderfully refreshing'. X Factor held firmly on to its position as one of Scotland's consistently innovative and thought-provoking dance companies, enthralling critics and audiences alike with their unique repertory of work.

Previous work by the company:
Standing Room Only (1992): a high speed site specific promenade, Sexual (1997): a controversial exploration of gay sex addiction, Unspoken (2000): a celebratory duet of sensual beauty and humour, The Dearly Departed (2002): a fascinating look at the various religious beliefs on what happens after death and Echoes (2004): nine previous productions woven into a fresh and compelling new performance.
X Factor’s new show introduced guest choreography by world class dance-maker Stephen Petronio, whose Lareigne is a blast of high-energy New York dancing, to music by David Linton and with costumes by New York designer Manolo.

Audiences were able to celebrate the weird and wonderful with Artistic Director Alan Greig’s new work Uncanny. Drawing inspiration from TV, film and literature including Twin Peaks, The Innocents, Macbeth and Poe’s Masque of the Red Death, Greig produced a head on collision of humour, emotion, choreography, text, original music and lighting, entering an uncanny world, somewhere in the twilight zone.
