The Scottish Arts Council envisages crafts as a dynamic contributor to contemporary culture and the economy, valued and understood by people throughout Scotland, and Scottish craftspeople as a confident professional community whose work is recognised for excellence both here and abroad.

Over the past few years the Scottish Arts Council has approached many crafts practitioners who have received Scottish Arts Council funding, to appear as “Featured maker” on the crafts section of our website. Many makers who have featured have been supported through our Start Up and Creative Development awards funds.

Each individual has shared their personal experience of work, exhibitions they have participated in, and how being supported through an Scottish Arts Council award has enabled them to progress further.
