mouse and bean are Glasgow-based environmentally and ethically aware textile designers who produce printed textiles for the interiors market. Their designs are hand-printed using only organic fabric with water-based ink.

"We are committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible in order to try and reduce the amount of chemicals and human consequences involved in the current textile industry. |
We are otherwise known as Laura and Anna and met whilst studying Visual Communication at The Glasgow School of Art between 1999 and 2002. It was during this time we began to develop our interest in printmaking and after several years working in both theatre and film we decided to pursue our dream of establishing our own business. Our studio was set up during 2007 and our first collection was launched in August 2008 at Homes and Interiors Scotland.
Our approach to working is fresh and experimental and we work independently of each other on our designs. We take inspiration from completely different sources to create a dynamic collection of work fused by an exciting colour palette." |

Currently, mouse and bean are working on a new series of designs that we will launch later in the year and a commission for a local venue in Glasgow. |
"We have also had our work featured in the latest issue of the magazine Homes and Interiors Scotland and been away on an intensive 3-day Professional Development Forum with other crafts people throughout the U.K.
We received invaluable mentoring and advice sessions from other practitioners and business people. This was made possible through our recent Craft Start Up award which has also helped with the costs of setting up our own studio." mouse and bean 2009 |
